The “Chinese Bridge” champions from 105 countries gathered in China, and a wonderful Chinese culture show is coming.
The 12th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students was held in Zhengzhou recently. 264 teachers and students from 119 competition areas in 105 countries were invited to visit the Confucius Institute Headquarters on Oct 21.
The contestants visited the Chinese Culture Experience Hall, where they played chime bells, practiced calligraphy, learned paper cut and changed into Peking opera costumes, through what they experienced the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
The competition is hosted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Henan Provincial People’s government, Education Department of Henan Provincial, Zhengzhou Municipal People’s government and Henan Radio & Television Station. It aims to arouse the enthusiasm of students in various countries in learning Chinese and strengthen the world’s understanding of Chinese language and culture.
This year, the competition adds a challenged team who will against other challengers, which will present a wonderful Chinese culture show. On November 1, the finals of the 12th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students will be held in Henan Province. At that time, the global champion, the continental champion and several individual awards will be selected.
On behalf of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Zhao Guocheng, the deputy secretary, welcomed the contestants and team leaders who came to China to participate in the competition. He said that the original intention of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students was to build a culture exchange platform for teenagers from all over the world through which they generate understanding and learn from each other. They make friends and learn the world through this “Chinese Bridge”, which affect the interpretation of the slogan “Learning Chinese, Creating Brighter Future”.
The “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition including “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students, “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign High School Students and “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Students in China, is a large-scale international contest. Since its inception in 2002, the “Chinese Bridge” has attracted more than 1.4 million young people from over 150 countries participate.
